We aim to create a deeper connection between Nature and humanity by emphasizing a multiplicity represented by an “×.” This approach encourages a profound transformation in how we perceive the relationship between the elements and the power we can harness. We move away from the current divide between consumption and preservation and instead foster a relationship that thrives on synergy. This perspective recognizes that the interconnected whole is much greater than the sum of its individual parts.
It’s time we begin to ‘mother’ nature.
)O( We are a coven advancing the unification of top-down magical technologies with bottom-up biological principles toward the mutual empowerment of Nature and Humanity.
)O( We envision a world where Nature and humans cocreate as one to empower a future of more complete synergy between Nature and humanity.
)O( Humanity is a part of Nature, yet the world we have designed has created a rift between us. It is now our responsibility to heal it.
Wisdom
We seek knowledge and truth. We strive for intellectual and creative depth, which we apply and embody in the complexity of our work. Our relentless curiosity drives us to keep learning as we pursue a greater understanding.
Wonder
As we pursue deep knowledge, we also embrace the magical and mysterious aspects of life. We thrive in the unknown, choosing to ask questions rather than jump to conclusions and bravely pushing beyond the limits of our own experiences.
Brilliance
We each have a uniquely radiant and magnetic brilliance that reflects in our work and who we are as individuals. Together, we direct our unique talents towards change, becoming a beacon for the world and beyond.
Humility
We approach every perspective with an open mind and an open heart, celebrating “we” over “I.” We strive to go beyond mere respect by actively elevating and amplifying others. By letting go of our individual pride, we allow ourselves to be embraced and enriched by those around us.
The following is a brief overview of our coven. We are sharing this information not to promote it, but to provide insight to seekers.
The Coven of 1000 Voices practices an evolving, independent form of Wicca, similar to that of the early founders of this tradition. We trust ourselves to be our own highest spiritual and religious authorities, and we continue to create, revise, and practice our version of Wicca. We believe in empowering the self to create, borrow, and adapt various practical, spiritual, and magical practices into a harmonious mix that honors the gods, Nature, and enriches the lives of our members. For the first time in history, the mass of human-made goods—referred to as anthropomass—now outweighs the mass of all living things, known as biomass. In our quest for technological advancement, humanity has rapidly unraveled what has taken Nature billions of years to evolve, posing a threat to the continued viability of life on Earth.
Our coven is committed to creating solutions that work for, with, and alongside Nature while also advancing humanity. This holistic approach requires us to address challenges at multiple scales and across various systems to achieve meaningful impact. We recognize that the boundaries between issues like climate change, global pandemics, loss of biodiversity, and a loss of empathy for one another are artificial. By creating integrated systems, we aim to address these interconnected challenges and strive for radical improvements in both Nature and humanity. We believe that the interconnected whole is far greater than the sum of its parts.
Our nature-centric worship sees every construct as a whole system, intrinsically linked to its environment through complex and varied interrelations that we may help mediate. This perspective embodies a shift from viewing Nature as merely a geological resource to nurturing her as a vital biological entity.
Foundational Liturgy:
We hold the contributions of Doreen Valiente—an unsung hero of Wicca—dear to our practice. Her works reflect a non-sexist, creative, and dedicated approach to Wicca. Her “Proposed Rules For The Craft” provide a framework for our own laws. Even if 1000 Voices Wicca isn’t your style, we recommend her book “Witchcraft For Tomorrow” for anyone serious about a healthy practice. Her writings should be approached with discernment, and we also suggest “Rebirth of Witchcraft” and “Witchcraft: A Tradition Renewed” (co-authored with Evan Jones) for insights into her practices after leaving Gardner.
Foundational Beliefs:
Our coven holds great meaning for us because it is uniquely our own, and that is the most important aspect in the end. Our practice of magic is heavily influenced by the systems established by Gardner, as well as the witchcraft traditions from our own families and cultures, whether inherited or chosen. Simply put, we value everything that works. We believe in mentoring and experimentation. While we follow the Wiccan Mythos, we also recognize the Lord and Lady in their various names and forms from around the world.
Our Tradition emphasizes autonomy and rejects hierarchical structures. We have defined rules that are communicated to potential members before they join. We do not justify our practices to others and do not tolerate behavior that creates power imbalances among individuals. Our Tradition differs from other Wiccan traditions in its rejection of dogma and ritualistic hierarchy.
We do not strictly follow all traditional Wiccan Craft Laws. Instead, we rely on ourselves to establish and adhere to our own Wiccan Craft Laws, incorporating elements from both American and British Traditional Wicca. Each coven abides by Natural Law, Traditional Law, and its own Coven Law. While we respect the significant contributions of our predecessors, we emphasize the importance of creating a religion that serves our own needs. Our focus is on our unique Wiccan history and practices, seeking guidance from the Goddess over time.
We don’t adhere to traditional Wiccan beliefs. For instance, we don’t believe that power is exclusively accessible through specific lineages or initiations. We hold that everyone has the potential for magic and can enhance their lives through study and practice. However, wielding magical power requires skill, and it can be dangerous if misused.
We don’t follow traditional Wiccan rituals entirely. Instead, we select elements to fit our needs and incorporate new ones into our evolving liturgy. No surprise oaths or subservience in our rituals. Rules are discussed before adherence. In our circles, every woman is High Priestess, and every man is High Priest, regardless of fertility, age, or years in the Craft. We believe in various forms of fertility and use multiplOe effective methods for the Great Rite. We gather as equals, creating unique rituals for our ever-changing purpose.
We are neither a church nor an institution, and we have no intention of becoming one. Our practice does not involve handling money, acquiring property, or constructing indoor structures. We do not aim to increase our membership or exert control over similar groups. Our priesthood and priestesshood are non-hierarchical, and our worship centers on honoring all living spirits.
We do not impart wisdom through sermons, and we view every student as a teacher. Our practice is private and anonymous, focusing exclusively on Wicca. We honor all names of our Goddess and God. Our study of Traditional Wicca is taken seriously to educate our members. While we have no ill will toward other Wiccan traditions, we acknowledge that we owe nothing to them.
